Medical Nutrition Therapy - 679-3912

What is Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT)?

  • MNT helps you take control of your nutritional needs.
  • The Registered Dietitian will help you set personal goals and make a plan to improve your quality of life through good nutritional choices.
  • MNT can improve lab results like blood sugar, blood pressure and lipids (cholesterol levels).

What is a Registered Dietitian (RD)?

  • RD’s have expert knowledge in nutrition and disease management. Areas of expertise include but are not limited to:
    • Allergies and food intolerances
    • Bariatric surgery
    • Child and adolescent nutrition
    • Diabetes, prediabetes and gestational diabetes
    • Gastrointestinal disorders (celiac disease, constipation)
    • Heart disease (high blood pressure, high cholesterol)
    • Pregnancy and lactation
    • Special nutrition care for cancer, kidney disease and liver disease
    • Sports nutrition
    • Weight management
    • Wound healing

What should I expect from my visit?

  • A personalized meal plan after talking with you about your diet and lifestyle habits and your medical history.
  • Budget-friendly, real-life tips to help you meet your nutrition goals.
  • Helpful resources like meal and snack ideas.
  • Help with label reading, cooking tips, dining out tips and meal planning
  • Continued follow-up based on your needs and progress



How do I schedule an appointment?

Ask your provider for a referral for Medical Nutrition Therapy. An appointment will be set up for you.

  • A weight management class is held the 3rd Thursday of the month at the Red Lake Comprehensive Health fitness center.  NIKE N7 shoesare provided to class members who attend 6 classes and get in 150 minutes of physical activity at the fitness center in a 12 month period.
